Annual APW Event hosted by the Barrie & District Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals.

Barrie & District Chapter of IAAP® invites you to celebrate your special day a little early this year with other office professionals by enjoying a fabulous dinner (provided by Executive Caterers) and an evening of laughs and entertainment provided by Rosita Hall.

We will have table gifts, door crasher prizes, vendors, a chance to win the 50/50 draw, and Silent Auction items to bid on!

Margaret Harlos, owner of Living Organized, will be joining us for a presentation about organization in the workplace -"From simply organizing your desktop to your entire office, getting an organizing overhaul can provide you with a more efficient and functional workspace. Living Organized can show you how to keep from getting bogged down with paper piles that clutter your office and your mind."

APW Event planned for March 2010

The Barrie & District Chapter has begun planning for their Administration Professionals Week (APW) Event for Wednesday, March 24th, 2010. A venue and cost has yet to be finalized, however we are happy to announce that Rosita Hall will be our guest speaker for the evening.

Many more details are set to finalize in the weeks after Christmas, so check back for updates regularly.

A skincare specialist from Rinaldi Salon & Spa will be presenting skincare and make-up tips for the Christmas Season! A traditional holiday meal with all the trimmings will be provided by The Country Kettle at 453 Dunlop Street West.

We are sponsoring a Family for Christmas this year, so donations of food are encouraged!

H1N1 Clinics in Barrie

I just thought I would add a list of H1N1 Vaccine Clinics for the Barrie area. As admins, we can be the first point of contact for our office, and as a result we may meet/greet many people every day. If you feel you may be at risk, vaccination clinics will be available in the Barrie area starting next week. A list of Barrie clinics are below:

Gabe Belanger from Computer Geeks On Call will be attending to give us a presentation about troubleshooting our computers and how to maintain the tools of our trade. He will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about computers, software, what to look for when buying a new computer/laptop, etc.

Please be advised that we have changed locations again (due to a schedule conflict with a larger group) and our meetings will now be held at The Country Kettle at 453 Dunlop Street West on the corner of Dunlop and Ferndale. The regular business meeting will commence after the presentation.

The IAAP Barrie & District Chapter invite you to join us on October 5th, 2009 for our next General Meeting. Patricia Gilbert, President of Gilda's Club and Irene Black, a volunteer with the organization will be attending to give us a presentation about Gilda's Club in Barrie and how they operate in our community. Our new venue, the Herb n Sage will be hosting our meetings in their private event room. The regular business meeting will commence after the presentation.

Please note that the reps from Gilda's Club will have Raffle Tickets on sale for the cost of $20 each. Prizes are outlined below and the sale of tickets is capped at 10,000 (which are not bad odds!!).

If you've just come across this blog, you've taken the first step in becoming a part of a dynamic community of Administrative Professionals across North America. The Ontario Division is one of three divisions in the Canada District. In Ontario alone, there are 18 chapters comprised of over 800 members throughout the province.

A History of the IAAP:
The International Association of Administrative Professionals is a not-for-profit professional association for office professionals with approximately 40,000 members and affiliates and nearly 600 chapters worldwide. Our mission is to enhance the success of career-minded administrative professionals by providing opportunities for growth through education, community building and leadership development. The association founded in 1942 as the National Secretaries Association to provide a professional network and educational resources for secretarial staff. The association's name was changed in 1998 to the International Association of Administrative Professionals to encompass the large number of varied administrative job titles and recognize the advancing role of administrative support staff in business and government.
